The bag is excellent and I love the water bottle pocket. It’s makes it a perfect day hike bag that will allow me to leave my full-size pack at base camp. The buying experience was also great. Shipped quick and came with a personalized thank you note. I’ll be a customer for a long time.

Redpaw Packs are the best!!! Comfortable packs with a killer design. My favorite feature are the cushiony full featured shoulder straps with running vest style. Matt does a great job with any custom features I request. I'll be back for another pack in the future!

Absolutely brilliant fanny pack! After 1,5 months of use I can easily recommend this pack to anyone in the market for a fanny pack for hiking or even daily life. The Ultra 400 fabric isn't too "technical" looking, so it can easily be worn outside the trail as well. The bottle holder is exquisite and very useful on the trail when you ditch your bag to reach a summit etc. Only slight downside I can come up with about the bag, definitely check your phone size if you have a larger phone! My Samsung S21 Ultra (huge brick) fits barely into the phone holder part, so it's quite hard to get in and out of there if the pack is full of items. This doesn't bother me that much though, but worth noting for people with larger phones. Highly recommend for anyone in the market for a fanny pack - hiker or not!
Nice pack! The VX21 material keeps shape a little better than the ultra 400 and is less crinkly. It is slightly heavier though. I think I’d probably use the ultra 400 for chest strap carry and vx21 for regular life.

These are by far the best Fanny packs available, the meshing on top is great for holding that water bottle or even easy access for the trash/snacks. The buying experience is always smooth, thanks for what you do!
I ordered a black and orange front range 40l with most of the add ons. The pack is really well thought out. the Y strap an on for example is easily switchable between using it as a Y or just a straight band over the top. Build quality all around is really fantastic. Matt was quick to respond to anything questions I had as well. Although its certainly not everything I really love the look as well, a very stylish pack. At first I wasen't going to for a fanny pack but I came around on the idea. Hoping to see if I can use Molle clips to clip the front pocket on as a removable organizer I can hike with through the day and bring into the tent at night. I'm getting off topic here now though. Overall I'm really happy with the end product and service. Thanks Matt!
I ordered a custom Front Range 40 in Ultra with dual adjust hip belt, joey pouch inside the rear mesh pocket, and y-strap. I've put almost 150 miles on the bag so far and it has exceeded all expectations. Matt's build quality is exceptional with both sewn and taped seams that showcase his skill as a craftsman and attention to detail in the finish. The Ultra fabric is light and extremely durable with practically no sign of wear after plenty of sliding and squeezing through the deserts. The (frameless) pack rides comfortably even with full food/water carries. Water bottle pockets on the shoulder straps has been one of my favorite upgrades! Matt is responsive and communicative throughout the process. I appreciated his willingness to talk through some of the customizations I was considering to suit my needs, being equal parts accommodating and challenging my ideas with his own thoughts and expertise. As someone who has owned packs from other cottage makers, I will tell you that the price/quality/lead-time of Red Paw Packs puts them at the top of the heap. I purchased a Flat Iron in Ultra 200 with vest style straps and a few other small modifications, and couldn't be more stoked about it. I've gotten the chance to load the pack up with kit, food, and food for a 2 night trip (16-18lbs) a few times now, then taken it out on some moderate day hikes. The vest style shoulder straps and amazingly comfortable and offer an astounding amount of pocket space, they really changed the way I approach loading my pack and increase efficiency for me. The front/side spandura pockets provide plenty of room to stuff wet gear and any other items you may need during the day. The bottom pocket and unique entry location work out way better than I expected, maybe a little small for a full day of food but there's plenty of other external storage options to round it out. The build quality on this pack is next level, it's easy to see the attention to detail that Matt gives the pack as it's made. Seams are dead straight, no loose threads, seam tape is meticulous. It seems like each time I pick up the pack I notice another small detail, like the orange snaps to match my orange spandura, or a nicely angled seam that adds a little excitement to the pack. Those little things always manage to make me grin. I've been described as being particular about my gear, to put it politely, and this pack exceeds expectation. After a few conversation with Matt it's easy to see he has true passion for designing and building packs, as well as sharing that passion with everyone around him. I won't hesitate to purchase another Red Paw Pack, the quality coupled with customer service makes that an easy decision.

I'm absolutely blown away at the quality and craftsmanship of the product I received. I didn't realize just how useful the spandura top pocket would be. Now that I have it though, it's hard to imagine going back to a pack that didn't have one. It's the perfect combination of weight, functionality, and style. If you're on the fence as to whether or not this is worth the price tag, it is. Every penny and then some. Treat yourself to a great product.

Ordered my VX15 12/18/19. What a remarkable product. This young man has really did his research in making a quality product. I'm a 47yr old man, and just had to show my mother and other older ladies that sew allot the Quality and the Craftsmanship. They all agreed it is sewn exceptionally well. Definitely with the money.
